Marketing tips: 8 Best Marketing Practices for Small Businesses.
  • Define your target audience: Identify who your ideal customers are and create interesting content and offer services that cater to their specific needs and preferences.
  • Choose the right platforms: Focus on the social media platforms that your target audience is most active on, such as Instagram, Facebook, or TikTok. Experiment with email marketing which tends to have a high engagement rate.
  • Create valuable content: Share photos, videos, and blog posts that showcase your services and expertise, and provide valuable information or entertainment to your followers. Use great visuals and engaging captions that reflect your brand's personality.
  • Partner with local influencers: Collaborate with persons who have a following that matches your target audience. They do not need to be nationally famous or full-time influencers. Sometimes it is good to experiment with persons who primarily have a small following in your city, and whose followers are composed of people near you. See if they are willing to accept free products or services in exchange for promoting your brand to their followers.
  •  Engage with your audience: Respond to comments and messages from your followers and use social media to build relationships with them. Encourage user-generated content by asking your followers to share photos or videos during or after your services.
  • Collect customer reviews: Encourage your customers to leave reviews on your social media profiles and website. Showcase and share them. Positive reviews can help attract new customers and build trust in your brand.
  • Offer exceptional customer service: Deliver high-quality customer service to your clients, both online and in-person. The emotions they experience during and after interacting with you matter. Happy customers are more likely to recommend your business to their friends and family, helping you grow your business through precious word-of-mouth referrals.
  • Measure your results: Track your marketing efforts and measure your results to see what's working and what's not. Use this information to adjust your strategy and improve your results over time.

Where to eat: Feast Cafe Bistro

Feast Café Bistro is the first of its kind in Manitoba – an Indigenous-owned and operated restaurant serving dishes inspired by the traditional foods of this great land. Owner Christa, from Peguis First Nation, has spent nearly 20 years refining her cooking skills and expanding her knowledge of Indigenous foods. She is a home cook turned restaurateur whose passion and creativity are woven into the fabric of Feast. Each recipe is developed in Christa’s home kitchen.

Feast sources as many local ingredients as possible. The bison is farmed right here in Manitoba, the cheese is from Bothwell, the pickerel is caught from our many lakes, and the coffee is roasted locally. The bannock is made-to-order, fresh everyday and is vegan.

Staff pick: We love the Bannock Pizza and Tipi Tacos!

Community Corner: Cancer Awareness.

April is Cancer Awareness Month in Canada. The Canadian Cancer Society’s fundraising initiative, Daffodil Days, raises awareness and funds to help combat this disease.

Thanks to funding for cancer research, the Scientific Director of the CIHR Institute of Cancer Research reports, “Researchers are on the verge of being able to unleash a patient’s immune system to combat their own cancer. Cancer immunotherapy represents a new class of treatments that are showing remarkable, long-term, durable therapeutic responses in a number of patients.”

You can help by supporting ongoing research and participating in the Canadian Cancer Society’s Daffodil Days!
